Dori Schwartz

INTERVIEW
We had a chance to sit down with Miss Dori Schwartz to talk a little about The Evilmaker.

Q.) Tell us a little about yourself. Where you were raised and what you do.
DORI: I was raised in Corvallis, Oregon. By profession I am a Court Interpreter. I interpret both Spanish and French for court proceedings: trials, sentencings, mental commitment hearings ect. It's a lot like acting in a way, because the translation has to express the same style of speech and tone of the speaker.
Q.) You were heavily involved in theater in high school. How is acting on stage different than film or video?
DORI: I think that on stage a person's gestures are a little exaggerated. Working with film or video gave me a sense of privacy. Of course I didn't do one of the topless scenes! Otherwise I might think differently. In any case it allows you to forget that thousands of people are going to be seeing it.
Q.) Your character is Tyler. Tell us a little about her and are you like her in any way?
DORI: Tyler is tom-boyish, brash, easygoing, and eats and drinks like a pig indiscriminately :) I think that I'm a pretty easy going person, but I'm definitely not tom-boyish. I'm a fan of grommet food. You would never catch me mixing jelly beans and pickles on a sandwich!
Q.) Was there a funny moment you remember on the set?
DORI: Yeah, we did an impromptu skit before we started filming evilmaker. It was hilarious.
Q.) There is a scene where you come bursting through a wall covered in blood. What was that like to film?
DORI: It made me a little nervous, because we only had one wall and I wasn't sure I was going to be able to break it. Fortunately I'm not claustrophobic or afraid of the dark, because I was actually sealed into the wall! Once I was confident that I could break though it, I had a lot of fun with it.
Q.) What was it like working with everyone?
DORI: Great! It was a lot of fun working with everyone.
Q.) On the set you worked many long hours. What did you do to prepare yourself for that?
DORI: Lot's of coffee :)
Q.) Since you have worked in both stage and film, which one do you prefer and why?
DORI: I like both. However, I think I prefer video and film. It's a more modern genre.
Q.) Any last thoughts or comments?
DORI: It was really great to work with John Bowker and his crew. He's an incredibly talented writer and director. I think you'll see a lot of good stuff from him in the future.
Thank you Dori for taking the time to talk to us. You can see more of Dori Schwartz in Pipedreams up and coming production of THE SEEKERS.
